The president is a Republican, congress is finally controlled by Democrats again, Imelda Marcos is in the news about her shoes, and Ortega is head of Nicaragua. It's 1987! The only difference between then and now is, since there's no longer a Soviet Union, Bush thought he had to play Stalin-lite for us.

Looks like the Democrats have taken the entire Congress now (though admittedly there is some possibility of that changing). This hasn't happened in quite some time. The elections of two years from now should be interesting!

And best of all, my House rep (a "good" Republican) was re-elected, so he can help my district without helping screw over the rest of the country.
And Rummy is gone, too, which is a bonus.
