Biography
I am a writer and co-artist/creator responsible for one illustrated prose novel and many graphic novels. These include Ranklechick and His Three Legged Cat (self published, Studio Tavicat — the "one illustrated prose novel" (also available split into two novellas)), Super Information Hijinks: Reality Check! (published by Tokyopop and Sirius – out of print), and the popular six volume ShutterBox series (published by Tokyopop). An absurdist-atheist most of the time and a deist every third Tuesday of the month, I write somewhat ridiculous meta science fiction and fantasy stories that are melancholically comedic and character-focused.
I formed Studio Tavicat in 1993 with my wife and partner Tavisha Wolfgarth-Simons as an entity under which the two of us together could invent illustrated stories (along with Tavisha's invisible, belligerent muses).
I was far from my happy book creation for two years, as I somehow ended up a part of the cast and crew of the Nickelodeon animated series Invader ZIM. On Invader Zim, I mobbed my book creation time, serving as both a color designer for nearly 700 backgrounds, and as a SAG voice actor, performing the voice of GIR, Invader ZIM’s robot sidekick.
